Dinengdeng or also known as Inabraw is a dish from the Ilocano People, originated in Ilocos Region. Dinengdeng is also similar to pinakbet (another ilocano dish). It is classified as bagoong soup based dish. It is composed of different vegetables that are usually grown in one’s backyard. The two dishes has a special ingredient, it can’t be called dinengdeng or pinakbet without bagoong isda. Unlike pinakbet, dinengdeng contains fewer vegetables, contains squash, grilled fish, and more bagoong.
This dish is also is easy to prepare, as long as you know how to fry fish and boil vegetables. What kinds of fish can you use? Any fish will do but mostly bangus (mik fish). Just a tip, eventhough you finish grilling or frying the fish, it is better if you cook it for a few minutes with the vegetables to add more flavor to the dish. When grilling bangus, be sure that the scales are not removed. This will prevent the fish from sticking to the grill.
